Brian Moran (www.brianmoranmusic.com) is a co-founder and 7 string guitarist for Grupo Falso Baiano, a San Francisco Bay Area quartet dedicated to modern Brazilian choro music. Their CDs Viajando: Choro e Jazz (2008), and Simplicidade: Live at Yoshi’s (2010) and Depois (2012) - featured guest appearances by Jovino Santos Neto, Moyseis Marques, Anna Carbatti, Jorge Alabê, Mike Marshall, Michael Spiro, and Eva Scow among others.
He is also a member of percussion mestre Jorge Alabê’s Pagode da Mesa samba group, and performs regularly in northern CA as a soloist, and member of various jazz, blues and world music groups. Brian has also been featured on over a dozen studio recordings as a sideman, composer and arranger.
As an educator, his articles have been published by Acoustic Guitar magazine, and he has taught at Jazz Camp West, The JazzSchool, and the South Bay Guitar Society’s annual festivals. He is also the director of curriculum for StrumSchool.com, and maintains an active teaching studio in the San Francisco Bay Area.
