Description

This lesson gives some history, style base, and mechanical characteristics of Real Rock and Roll piano in all its primitive self taught glory, a truly non- conservatory approach.

Dale's first gig was replacing the acknowledged greatest piano player in Rock, Nicky Hopkins, to play with Quicksilver Messenger Service, at 18, followed by years of playing with acts like Grammy winning Doobie Brothers, or Rita Coolidge, both of whom have suffered #1 hits.

Roots of Rock piano are exposed in blues , boogie woogie, jazz or country.

Also explored is considering ways to emulate specific instruments on digital, or software synths by history and appropriate uses, with examples. This can be used both as guideline, or as something to avoid completely if you want to play "out of the box', but being aware of it!
